Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 265

After everything that had happened, Liam was starting to get the feeling Stephen had a thing for Rebecca. He edged closer with a hopeful grin. “Mr. Duncan, isn’t that Ms. Harper over there? Why’s she sitting by herself?”

Stephen closed the financial report he’d been reading and glanced in the rearview mirror, catching sight of Rebecca. His brows pulled together, a flicker of worry crossing his face. It was obvious he noticed she wasn’t herself.

He thought for a moment, then pulled out his phone and called his sister. “Rebecca’s sitting alone on a bench by the side entrance. She doesn’t look okay. Can you go down and keep her company?”

Liam let out a huge sigh of relief, grinning from ear to ear. Finally, he’d done something right.

He looked at Stephen, hoping for a little praise. Please, boss, just one compliment.

Stephen checked his watch and spoke quietly. “After we finish with the client, take me to the Hermès store. Call ahead and let them know to hold a spot for me.”

Liam perked up. “What do you want to buy? I can go pick it up for you. So you don’t have to waste your time.”

Stephen gave him a sharp look. “I’m picking out this gift myself.”

Liam shut his mouth, realizing he’d messed up again. He focused on the road and drove in silence.

Downstairs, Cindy had just answered her brother’s call. She hurried outside and spotted Rebecca sitting there, looking so lost it made her heart break.

“Well, if it isn’t the city’s most gorgeous girl. Can I have the honor of inviting you to lunch?” Cindy said, dramatically bowing.

Rebecca turned and laughed, her mood lifting a little. “Sure, but I’m craving something spicy. Can you handle it?”

Cindy grinned. “If it makes you happy, I’ll eat whatever you want.”
