They’d been there half an hour, and when Rebecca realized these guys actually seemed well behaved, she finally let herself relax.
She didn’t see it coming when the man now sprawled on the floor started grilling her nonstop. He wanted to know what she did, where she worked, even her salary. Rebecca’s patience wore thin. She frowned, refusing to answer, but he wouldn’t quit. She was just about to kick them out when everything went sideways.
The guy on the floor totally lost it when he heard they were being thrown out. At this club, getting booted by a guest meant your night was over and your bonus was gone. He snapped, swearing at her. “You bitch, who do you think you are? You... ah—!”
Stephen cut him off, grinding his heel into the guy’s wrist until the room filled with a shriek that sounded more animal than human.
The other two guys froze in panic. They fumbled their phones out and called for the manager.
Five minutes later, the floor manager stormed in, two huge bodyguards right behind him.
One of the hosts pointed at Stephen. “Boss, it’s him—he’s making trouble!”
The manager, Adam, looked Stephen up and down with a lazy smirk. “So, you’re here to start something? Honestly, with that face and build, you could make a killing working here. Stick around, you’d be the star. You could pull in ten grand a night, easy.”
Everyone else cracked up.
Cindy nearly exploded. Her cheeks turned bright red. “You say that again?”
Adam just shrugged, grinning. “It’s good money. If your boyfriend wants to keep rich ladies company, he could clear six figures a month.”
Cindy’s hand shot up, ready to slap him, but Stephen calmly blocked her.
“No need. He’s not worth it.”
Stephen pulled out his phone. “Hey, Lucas. I’m in room 308. Could you come here for a minute?”
He hung up, giving the group a cold, flat look, then slipped off his jacket and wrapped it around Rebecca’s shoulders.
Rebecca glanced down and saw the side zipper of her dress was halfway undone. Her cheeks burned. She realized someone must have tried to get handsy. Embarrassed, she ducked behind Stephen.
