He quickly switched gears and grinned. “I’m just messing with you. Honestly, this place is kind of boring. Not really your vibe. I actually have a lounge downtown, way nicer, and it’s mine too. If you ever want to check it out, just drop my name. Drinks are on the house for the whole month.”
Rebecca just gave a noncommittal shrug. Her head was spinning tonight. The last thing she wanted was a bar. She just wanted to go home.
Stephen caught on right away and said, “Let’s get out of here.”
Cindy trailed behind, apologizing over and over.
“Rebecca, I’m so sorry. This is all my fault. I just wanted to cheer you up. I didn’t even think about the risks.”
Rebecca couldn’t be mad at her. “It’s not your fault. You were just looking out for me.”
Outside, the night breeze picked up. Rebecca slipped off Stephen’s jacket and handed it back to him. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and gave the siblings a smile. “It’s getting late. Let’s just go home.”
Her car was still at the shop, so she pulled out her phone to call a ride, but Stephen beat her to it. “Let me drive you.”
Rebecca hesitated. “It’s really fine. I don’t want to trouble you.”
Cindy, always the matchmaker, gave her a gentle nudge toward the Rolls-Royce’s passenger seat. “It’s no trouble at all. He’s actually happy to do it.”
Rebecca felt her cheeks heat up, but luckily the car was dark, so no one could see. She tried to ignore Cindy’s teasing and quietly buckled her seatbelt.
After they left, Paradise welcomed a familiar VIP.
Adam knocked on the door of a private room himself. “Sonja, welcome back. We just got a new batch of guys. Want to meet them?”
Sonja’s red lips curled into a smile. “Of course. Bring them in. Let me take a look.”
She added, “You remember my rules, right?”
Adam nodded with a bow. “Of course. Privacy first. You can count on that.”
Once he left the room, Adam found a quiet spot and made a call.
“Hey, Shawn, Sonja is here again.”
He listened for a second, then lowered his voice. “Got it. I’ll keep everything clean. She won’t notice a thing.”
Just as the person on the other end was about to hang up, Adam quickly added, “Something else happened tonight.”
