Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 303

Paul let out a sharp laugh. “You think I’m Bruce, always needing a girl to get ahead?”

Morris just stood there, lost for words. Frustration got the better of him and he raked a hand through his hair, then kicked over the chair next to him. “Damn it, I never thought Rebecca would actually be manipulative enough to ruin our friendships.”

Paul shot him a warning look. “I don’t want to hear that from you again.” He crushed out his cigarette, face tight with irritation, and walked straight into the bathroom.

Morris stared after him, stunned, his eyes going red. He was barely holding it together. “Are you kidding me, Paul? How long have we known each other? We grew up together, and now you’re threatening me over a girl?”

Paul’s eyes were cold. “I’m not asking for much. Just give her some respect.”

Morris’s chest rose and fell, anger simmering inside him. He pressed his tongue against his back teeth, then spat out, “Fine. Respect. I’ll respect her, okay?”

He suddenly gave a short laugh. “But what if she doesn’t want you? I don’t think she’s interested in you at all. She only cares about Stephen. She’s got her eyes set way higher, so why would she even bother with you?”

The words had barely left his mouth when something hard smashed against the wall. Paul’s phone broke apart and pieces scattered across the carpet. When Morris looked up, Paul was staring at him, eyes bloodshot. “Just shut up.”

Morris froze. This was insane. Everyone was losing it.

The next morning after breakfast, they had another day to themselves. Rebecca joined Stephen, Cindy, and Jon as they headed up the mountain to visit the omnastery and pray for some good luck. After a full night’s rest, Rebecca’s foot was feeling much better.

At the monastery, she bumped right into Paul and his friends.

Morris’ smile froze. Forty? That meant he’d have to wait more than ten years. But then again, maybe that wasn’t so bad. At least he’d have another decade to do as he pleased.

He stepped back and Paul came forward, handing his own fortune stick. It was about as bad as it could get.

“Could you please tell me if the person I’m meant to be with is here at the temple today?”

His question was so direct that everyone nearby looked surprised. The man did a quick calculation with his fingers, then bowed his head. “I’m sorry, but the fortune says she’s not.”

Paul’s face went dark. Without saying anything, he pulled out all the best fortune sticks, then handed them over. “That was a bad one and it said she’s not here. What about these? These are all the best ones. Do any of them say she is?”
