Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 313

Rebecca stopped in her tracks when she caught sight of the price tag. Six figures. Her heart skipped a beat.

Trying not to look too rattled, she turned to the sales associate. “Um, is there any kind of discount going on right now?”

The shorter associate pressed her lips together, flashing a smug little smile. “No. Our clothes never go on sale.”

Rebecca earned a decent salary and had some savings, but spending that much on a single dress felt completely over the top. She’d never been the type to chase after expensive things just for the sake of it. If she couldn’t afford it, she didn’t see the point in forcing it.

“I’m sorry, that’s out of my price range. I’ll have to pass,” Rebecca said honestly.

She almost asked if there were more affordable options, but before she could, the associate rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath, “If you don’t have money, why are you shopping here at all?”

Rebecca took a slow breath to steady herself. Cindy was still in the fitting room, so blowing up at the associate would only make things awkward. Instead, she glanced at the woman’s name tag and made a note of it.

Not getting a reaction, the associate got even bolder, scoffing in Rebecca’s face. So, she’s just another one of Ms. Duncan’s hangers-on, she thought. For a second, she’d wondered if Rebecca was some rich girl too. But from the way she was dressed, head to toe in plain, simple clothes, it was obvious she didn’t have money. With that figured out, the associate didn’t bother with her anymore, heading straight over to wait by the other fitting room.

A few moments later, the door next to Rebecca opened and someone stepped out. The two bodyguards sitting by the VIP area stood up right away.

Instantly, the associate’s attitude flipped. She put on her brightest smile. “Miss Bernan, would you like all of these?”

“All of them. And those two pairs of shoes, too. Just pack everything up,” Miss Bernan said, her tone casual and a little showy.

The associate gave a dramatic gasp. “You’re pregnant? Honestly, Miss Bernan, I never would have guessed. You look incredible!”

“Do I?” Lottie said, smoothing her dress. She paused, then gave the dress a critical look. “Too bad about this one though. The cut is pretty boring. It makes you look older.”

She flipped over the price tag and let out a little hum. “Only six figures? No wonder it looks so cheap. Next time, bring me something with a little more taste.”

Without another word, she tossed the dress back at the associate. The saleswoman kept her fake smile plastered on. “Of course, you’re absolutely right.”

By now, she’d put it all together. Miss Bernan clearly had some beef with the poor girl, and all that show was just to get under her skin. Playing along, she shot Rebecca a sneer. “Miss Bernan, you’re a true socialite. Money’s never a problem for you. Some people can’t even dream of affording a six-figure dress like this.”
