Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 317

Cindy was in her bedroom with a face mask on when she heard a knock. She peeled off the mask, got up, and unlocked the door. Stephen stood there, looking a little tired.

“Hey, you just got home?” she asked, surprised.

Stephen didn’t say much. He just stepped inside and handed her a bag.

“Give this to Rebecca at work tomorrow. And don’t tell her it’s from me.”

“What is it?” Cindy asked, already pulling the ribbon loose on the box.

A blue dress peeked out from the tissue paper. Cindy’s eyes went wide. “Wait, it looks like the one Rebecca was checking out tonight.”

She glanced at the label and her jaw dropped. She knew that logo everywhere. This wasn’t just similar, it was the exact same dress.

Cindy squinted at her brother. “You were at Golden Plaza tonight too?”

Stephen nodded. “Mom’s bag was ready for pickup, so she asked me to get it after work. I saw you trying on clothes.”

“Why didn’t you say hi to us?”

Stephen just smiled and ruffled her hair. “You were handling things just fine. You didn’t need me to step in.”

He must have seen her telling Lottie off earlier. Cindy let out a heavy sigh and shot him a look, half annoyed, half worried.

“You missed your chance! That was the perfect moment for you to be the hero. Think about it. Prince Charming shows up out of nowhere to save the day? She’d be so touched she’d probably cry.”

Stephen laughed. “Is Rebecca really that kind of person? You know her better than that.”

Honestly, Stephen hadn’t jumped in because he was worried about making Rebecca uncomfortable. She’d been avoiding him lately. If he showed up, it would probably just make things worse.

Cindy huffed, scrunching her face in worry. “You need to get your act together. Things are not looking good for you. You’ve got problems coming at you from every direction. Now is not the time to slack off.”
