Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 324

Alan’s cheeks turned a shade pinker. He gave a little cough, glancing awkwardly at Sonja, and slowly shook his head.

Bruce gave Sonja’s hand a reassuring squeeze, his brow creasing. “She’s just kidding. We’re all busy, so let’s not waste time. We should get down to business.”

Inside, Sonja couldn’t help but scoff, but her smile was as sweet as ever. She brushed her bangs aside and looked at Bryce. “It’s really nothing much. Your time’s valuable, so I won’t bother you with the details. Let’s talk about what matters.”

Bryce wasn’t easy to fool. He picked up on the tension in the room right away.

It wasn’t unusual for rivals to butt heads, but what kind of grudge could Alan possibly have with Ms. Harper? They weren’t even in the same league, in age or experience.

“What could have happened between you and Ms. Harper?” Bryce asked, eyes glinting with curiosity. “Alan, you’ve always struck me as the calmest guy out there. If something rattled you, it must be serious.”

Calling Alan calm was putting it mildly. He was the type you could poke all day and never get a reaction.

Alan scratched his head. “It’s really nothing—”

“Alan’s been looking for his biological daughter for years,” Sonja cut in, her voice clear and casual. “Turns out, Ms. Harper is that daughter. Too bad there is some misunderstanding and she just went off on him.”

Alan froze, caught off guard.

Wait, is that how it was?

Still, Sonja was trying to help him, so he could only play along. He heaved a sigh, looking regretful. “I guess I have let her and her mother down.”

Bryce’s expression soured.

A daughter lashing out at her father? That was just wrong, no matter what.

Even if Alan had made mistakes, it wasn’t right for his daughter to act so rude to him in public. Bryce shot Rebecca a look that was all judgment.

What good was talent if you didn’t even know the basics of respect?
