Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 336

Suddenly, the quiet of the underground parking garage was broken by the echo of heavy footsteps. Some Sunforge Tech employees were coming. Rebecca stiffened, panic flickering in her eyes as she looked at Stephen for help.

Without missing a beat, he slipped an arm around her waist and reached under the driver’s seat, pressing a hidden button. The seat reclined flat in an instant. Bracing himself above her, Stephen lowered them both until they were lying back, hidden from anyone passing by. Outside, the group walked right past, totally unaware.

“Mitch, this place is awesome. The atmosphere, the food, everything. It must be pricey, huh?”

“Don’t worry about it, it’s on me. I just hope you all had a good time.”

“You’re too generous, Mitch! I’ll get the team some cupcakes this afternoon to return the favor.”

“That sounds perfect!”

As soon as the footsteps faded, Rebecca let out a long breath. She looked up and locked eyes with Stephen. His gaze was intense and dark, and her heart started racing. Her cheeks warmed, turning a delicate pink.

“You… you can get up now,” she whispered.

Stephen didn’t move. His breath was warm against her ear as he spoke softly.

“The person I had lunch with today was Leah. She’s an expert in divorce cases. With her, you’ll have the best shot at getting the child support Alan owes you.”

Rebecca blinked, stunned. He’d gone out of his way to find her a lawyer?

Stephen sighed. He’d never wanted her to know how much he did for her, but he couldn’t stand the thought of being misunderstood. He had to explain.

“I already sent her your contact info. She’ll reach out soon. I told her about you and Alan, but for the details and your parents’ old agreement, you’ll need to fill her in.”

Rebecca’s lashes fluttered as she tried to process it all. “Thank you,” she breathed.

He kept helping her, and she… she couldn’t do much for him at all. Guilt twisted in her chest.

“I…”

Stephen cut her off gently, pressing a finger to her lips. He smiled, his eyes teasing. “Let me guess. You’re about to say, ‘I’ll work hard to pay you back.’”

His words sent a wave of tenderness through her. He’s asking her for a chance. It felt so humble, almost too much.

Her throat tightened. “I… I don’t know…”

Stephen leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to the corner of her lips. His voice was soft, reassuring. “It’s okay. Take your time. I’m in no hurry.”

They sat in silence for a long moment before finally getting themselves together and stepping into the elevator.

As they rose, Rebecca remembered something that had been nagging at her. She turned to Stephen.

“Oh, I got a weird anonymous text recently. And Coralbridge Bank reached out to us first, which never happens.”

Stephen looked back, a little puzzled. “Yeah? So?”

Rebecca swallowed, her voice soft. “Was all of this your doing?”
