Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 337

Stephen look stunned, then a slow smile spread across his face. “It wasn’t me this time.”

Not this time? So you have done it before?

Rebecca caught the slip right away. “What do you mean, ‘this time’? What did you do before?”

Stephen just looked at her, silent. He rubbed his nose and lifted a brow. “Do you really want to know?”

“I do.”

Suddenly, he leaned in, his voice low beside her ear. “Say yes to me, and I’ll tell you.”

Rebecca felt her ears grow hot. Right then, the elevator chimed, breaking the moment. She quickly shoved him back and strode out, taking a deep breath to steady herself before shooting a sharp look at the man still inside.

The elevator doors began to close. Stephen met her gaze with a soft smile, his eyes warm.

That’s when Rebecca noticed it. Her eyes went wide. “Steph—”

Too late. The doors clicked shut.

Rebecca jammed the button, trying to call the elevator back, but the next one was stuck on the first floor and would take forever. With no other choice, she pulled out her phone and dialed Stephen’s number.

No answer. He must have put his phone on silent for his meeting.

So she fired off a message. [You have lipstick on your mouth. Wipe it off before you go into your office!]

Still no reply. After a minute, Rebecca shut her eyes and sighed. Whatever. At least it wasn’t her walking in there with lipstick on his face.

Stephen rode the elevator up, straight to the top floor. The executive office was buzzing as everyone rushed around, getting ready for the board meeting. When he walked in, people sprang to their feet.

“Mr. Duncan.”

He nodded, business as usual. But something was off. Everyone was staring at him, almost in shock. Where was their usual cool professionalism?

He frowned. “Is there a problem? Did you need something?”

A round of quick glances and head shakes. “No, em. Nothing.”
