Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 339

Alan stared at the documents inside the envelope, his whole body swaying like someone had hit him over the head with an invisible club. His eyes went wide with shock. Rebecca... she actually planned to sue him!

Avery lost it on the spot, smacking the summons right into Alan’s face. “Didn’t you say she wouldn’t do it? Look at this. Not only did she sue you, she’s asking for five million! She must be out of her mind with greed.”

Alan’s throat went dry. “I never thought she’d actually do it, Avery. I... I think I should get a lawyer to help...”

Avery cut him off before he could finish. Her voice was ice cold. “Don’t even dream about it. You want to show your face in court and make us all look like fools? You’re the vice president of Campbell Group. If people find out you got sued by his own daughter for unpaid child support, what do you think that’ll do to the company’s reputation? Or mine?”

She paused, letting out a shaky breath. “And don’t forget, Sonja and Bruce’s engagement is coming up. If the Lamont family finds out their future in-law is in court, it’ll be a disaster for Sonja.”

“So what am I supposed to do?” Alan asked, almost in a whisper.

“Handle it privately. Make your precious daughter drop the case. I don’t care what it takes, or what you have to promise her. If you can’t sort this out before Sonja’s engagement party, you can just move in with your ex-wife. We’re done.”

Alan wiped sweat from his forehead. He forced himself to smile. “Avery, don’t worry. I’ll take care of it. I won’t let this hurt the Campbell family or Sonja.”

He tried to convince himself it was just a bluff. She was only trying to scare him, right? Maybe the envelope was fake. He pressed his fingers to the paper, half-hoping it would vanish. Real or fake, he had to reach Rebecca.
