Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 358

Leah sneezed, breaking the moment. The room felt a little awkward for a second. Lying really wasn’t her thing.

Luckily, Rebecca didn’t question her half-truth. She reached out her hand. “Thanks for your help, Leah. If you ever need anything, just let me know.”

After working with Rebecca a few times, Leah genuinely admired her. Women who were gutsy and fearless in the workplace were rare, and Leah felt a special kind of respect for her. She figured she’d do Rebecca a favor and give her a little push.

“Ms. Harper, I’m not really into gossip, but as someone with an outside view, I have to say, you are very special to Mr. Duncan.”

As she said it, Leah realized whatever little crush she’d had on Stephen was officially gone. So what if he was gorgeous, rich, and had that gentle CEO vibe? There would be others.

Rebecca blushed, her lashes trembling. “I…”

“It’s nothing, really. Just something I noticed. Don’t overthink it.” Leah gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder, then hopped into her car and left.

Back at the office, Leah texted Stephen, keeping things all business.

[The case is wrapped up. Please transfer the remaining ninety percent of the fee to my account. Thank you.]

She added, [And don’t worry, I didn’t mention a thing to Ms. Harper. Totally sealed lips.]

Stephen replied almost instantly. [Money transferred. Please confirm. Thank you.]

Leah couldn’t help but roll her eyes at his super formal tone. She sent back an OK emoji.

Rebecca groaned. “Mom, there’s nothing between me and Paul.”

“Still, I think Paul’s a great guy. You’re so strong-willed. He’s gentle and thoughtful, the kind of person who would really take care of you. I’m getting older, my health isn’t great. I just want to know you’ll have someone by your side, someone like Paul.”

“Mom, you’re fine. Seriously, don’t worry so much.”

Besides, Paul wasn’t the only gentle, thoughtful guy around.

Rebecca excused herself to the restroom to wash her hands, hoping her mom would drop the Paul conversation. But as she stepped out, she was surprised to find herself face to face with Paul.
