Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 426

Joan suddenly hurled the mouse at the wall and screamed at the top of her lungs, “You bitch!”

The housekeeper rushed in from the guest room, panic all over her face. “Ms. Knotts, are you alright? Did you forget your medicine? Let me get it for you.”

Joan spun around. The wild look in her eyes disappeared, replaced by a soft, sweet smile. “I’m not sick. Why would I need medicine?”

The housekeeper hesitated, twisting her hands together. “Mr. Duncan told me to make sure you take it on time.”

Joan brushed her off. “He’s already gone back to his country. He can’t control me anymore.”

The housekeeper looked troubled, her voice gentle but worried. “Ms. Knotts, you haven’t been well lately. Your moods are all over the place. Maybe you should see Dr. Arlington again?”

Joan’s face darkened in an instant. She snapped, “I told you I’m not sick. Why would I need a doctor? Get out!”

With no other option, the housekeeper quietly left the room. After a moment of indecision, she picked up her phone and called Dr. Arlington. After all, Mr. Duncan was the one signing her paychecks. If anything went wrong, she’d be the one in trouble.

It didn’t take long for Dr. Arlington to show up. He knocked gently on Joan’s door.

Joan looked genuinely surprised. “Dr. Arlington, what brings you here?”

When she spotted the housekeeper’s anxious face in the living room, she immediately figured it out. She forced a bright smile. “Thank you, but I’m really fine. She’s just being dramatic. Anyway, I’ll be heading home soon, so it might be a while before I see you again.”

Arthur raised his eyebrows. “You’re going home? Does Mr. Duncan know?”

“Of course,” Joan replied, still smiling. “He’s handling all the paperwork.”

Arthur nodded and opened his medical bag, pulling out several bottles of pills. “This is your next round of medication. Your condition has been unstable lately, so please take these on time and follow the instructions.”

Joan took the pills from him, smile never faltering. “Alright. I’ll do exactly as you say, Dr. Arlington.”
