Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 431

Cindy had been distant lately. You could feel the chill in the air between them, and Jon couldn’t figure out why.

He tried to catch up with her, but she stopped and shot him a cold look. “I don’t feel like walking anymore,” she said flatly.

Before he could respond, she turned away, but Jon reached out and grabbed her wrist.

His heart clenched tight. “Cindy, what did I do? Why are you treating me like this all of a sudden?”

Her voice was even colder now. “You know exactly why.”

Jon shook his head, desperate. “I really don’t. Please, just tell me. If I messed up, I’ll fix it.”

Right then, his phone started ringing in his pocket. He tried to ignore it, but the calls just kept coming.

With a sigh, he finally fished it out of his pocket. His grip loosened for a second and Cindy used that moment to pull away, striding off down the path.

Jon glanced at the screen. It was his mom.

“Jon, your dad and your brother will be home for dinner tonight. You should come too. It’s been ages since all four of us sat down for a meal together.”

He murmured a reply, but his eyes stayed glued to Cindy’s fading figure.

Just as he was about to hang up, Madison added, “How’s Cindy been? Is she okay? I hope everything’s alright with her.”

Jon frowned. “Did something happen?”

Only then did Madison tell him about her recent talk with Cindy.

“I consider Cindy like a daughter,” she sighed. “The last thing I’d ever want is to see her hurt.”

Jon felt ice creeping through his veins. He gripped the phone tight. “Was it Dad’s idea or Richie’s?” His voice was low and tense.

Madison heard the change in his tone, but she just thought he was being protective, like Cindy was his little sister.

“It was your father’s idea, but I doubt Richie had any objections.”

Jon let out a bitter laugh. “Of course not. He only cares about what he can gain. He’d trade anything for a business deal.”
