Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 442

The person on the other end of the line went silent, clearly stunned. A few seconds ticked by before he finally swore. “What are you even talking about?”

Bruce didn’t bother explaining. “Bottom line, someone set me up. I got kicked out of the company. Kane lost his job too, thanks to me.”

Morris was hit with another shock. He just stared at the phone, speechless.

After a moment, he finally let out a string of curses. “Wait, was it Rebecca? She really can’t let anything go, still pissed about the engagement party?”

“It wasn’t her. It was Sonja.” Bruce’s voice was calm, almost too calm.

Morris jumped out of his chair. “You’re telling me Sonja set you up? She actually kicked you out of your own company? She… she… she…”

He couldn’t even finish the sentence. The words just stuck in his throat.

Morris honestly wondered if this was some crazy dream. Nothing made sense. These were people he’d grown up with. Sonja, his childhood friend, had set up her own fiancé, which was his best friend, and taken over the company?

He slapped himself across the face, hard. Twice.

Wake up, Morris! This isn’t real. You have to be dreaming.

But when he looked down at his phone, the call log was right there. It was all real.

He collapsed back into his chair, hands shaking as he dug out a cigarette and lit up. He took a shaky drag, trying to steady himself.

Suddenly, something Paul had said popped back into his mind.

“I think there’s something going on between Sonja and Shawn.”

It hit him all at once. Sonja had come back to the country, and not long after, so had Shawn. Had she been planning this the whole time? Since the moment she got back?

If that was true, then Sonja was honestly the scariest woman he’d ever met.
