Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 453

Rebecca blinked, caught off guard. “No, we haven’t. Why?”

Timothy let out a long sigh. “That’s good. You’ll know what’s going on in a few days.”

Rebecca pushed down her curiosity and didn’t ask any more questions.

Months ago, someone had sent her an anonymous text warning her not to work with Skyline Capital. She’d almost forgotten about it, since everything seemed fine with both Skyline and NovaStack Cloud. Now, Timothy suddenly brought it up again and hinted that something was about to happen. Her nerves came roaring back.

Was something big about to go down?

She shook her head, trying to push away the thought.

Whatever happens, it’s not my problem.

Two days later, the financial world was rocked by explosive news.

Skyline Capital was being investigated for serious corruption. Several top executives were taken in for questioning overnight, and a bunch of their projects got shut down on the spot.

On the top floor of NovaStack Cloud, Sonja was fuming. She’d called Bryce again and again, but every time his phone went straight to voicemail. In a fit of frustration, she hurled her phone at the wall.

Right then, the head of the project department barged in, looking panicked. “Dr. Campbell, bad news. Our project with Skyline just got suspended. Bryce was taken away for questioning... They’re saying bribery and corruption.”

His voice was shaky. “And there’s... there’s more...”

Sonja marched over and grabbed him by the collar. “What else? Tell me!”

He looked sick. “Rumor is, our company’s caught up in the bribery too. They’re coming to investigate us.”

“What?” Sonja’s mind went completely blank. Grabbing her purse, she bolted for the door.

But she hadn’t made it more than a few steps before she spotted officers waiting outside.

She froze, heart pounding.
