Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 489

After she stepped outside, Rebecca called Jon to fill him in. Jon was quiet for a moment. “He did this on purpose, didn’t he?” he finally said.

Rebecca let out a sigh and gave a wry smile. “Even if he did, what can I do? He’s the boss. He gets to call all the shots.”

She tried to sound reassuring. “Just do your best to work with him. I’ll be waiting to hear that you folks pulled it off.”

Jon let out a long breath. “You’re comforting me, but really, you’re the one who needs it. Should I get Stephen involved or something…?”

“Please don’t. Don’t tell him. He’s got bigger things to worry about right now.”

Jon grumbled, “What could possibly be more important than his girlfriend?”

Rebecca just laughed softly. “You’ll find out someday.”

After they hung up, Rebecca gathered the files and sent them to Brett, then drove straight over to Coralbridge Bank. The project manager was totally caught off guard. He never expected the vice president herself to show up over a minor issue. It made him feel awkward, and he apologized as soon as she arrived. “Ms. Harper, you really didn’t have to come all this way.”

Rebecca just smiled. “It’s my job.”

Since she’d come in person, the project manager decided this was a perfect chance to build a connection. Once the problem was sorted out, they started chatting about their plans for next year, and he even introduced her to the head of the tech department. The conversation was so pleasant that by the time Rebecca left, she noticed it was already dark outside.

Just then, her phone buzzed with a series of news alerts, all about one person.

“Sunforge Tech’s new CEO leads his team to win Coralbridge’s Second Tech Competition! Everything you want to know about the handsome CEO is right here.”

Rebecca blinked in surprise and tapped the headline. So Brett went up on stage in the end?

The news featured a short video clip. Brett stood on stage, looking sharp and self-assured. But every word coming out of his mouth was from the speech Rebecca had stayed up all week writing.
