Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 516

Brett clenched his jaw. "Did you do that on purpose?"

"On purpose?" Rebecca blinked, looking genuinely confused. "Didn’t you just say I was suspended for three months, Mr. Duncan?"

She got up and stretched, letting out a long sigh. "Well, it's perfect. I've been working for years without a real break. I might as well treat these three months like a vacation."

When she reached the door, she glanced back at Brett. "Oh, and about that three-month suspension. Please send it to me in an email. If you don't, I'm worried that if I skip work tomorrow, you'll say I'm slacking off on purpose."

"You—" Brett's face turned an ugly shade, but Rebecca shut the door behind her with a crisp snap, leaving him alone in the huge conference room.

Furious, Brett swept all the papers off the table, sending them flying to the floor.

A few days later, word of Rebecca's suspension was all over the industry. Clients who had been lining up to work with Sunforge Tech suddenly started to hesitate. Everyone knew Rebecca was the reason Sunforge Tech had made it this far. Now that she was gone, could the company still be trusted?

And really, who wants to work with a company that sidelines its top talent instead of appreciating them? Not exactly confidence-inspiring.

Even the clients Sunforge Tech was already working with started looking for reasons to pause their contracts.

Brett was a mess. First, he called up clients, trying to figure out why they were backing away, but nobody would give him a straight answer. He had to go visit them in person, one after another, but after a week of effort, he got nowhere. Everyone just played it cool, insisting on putting things on hold.

As evening fell, Brett sat in his car, half his face hidden in the shadows, looking exhausted.

That was when his phone rang. It was George.

"Hey, Grandpa?"

George sounded serious. "Brett, I heard there’s been some trouble at the company. You’re not getting along with your team?"

Brett yanked at his tie, frustrated. "Grandpa, did someone go running to you with complaints?"

Cindy nodded hard. "I'm kicking myself for not doing this sooner!"

Not far away, two young guys kept sneaking glances at them. Eventually, they worked up the nerve to walk over, blushing as they spoke. "Hi, beautiful ladies. Can we get your numbers?"

Cindy grinned. "I'm married, so that's a no from me. But my friend here is single. You might have a shot."

Rebecca nearly choked on her drink. Just then, her phone buzzed with a video call from Jon.

"Hey, babe!"

Jon was about to say something sweet, but then he spotted the two unfamiliar guys behind Rebecca. His face clouded over in an instant.

But Stephen, standing beside Jon, looked even more thunderous.
