Betrayed and Dumped She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 542

Rebecca twisted in his grip, glaring. “Did you have someone set me up? Let go of me!”

Bruce just smiled, but there was something bitter in his eyes. “You’re as sharp as ever, Rebecca.” His voice tightened. “If you’re really that smart, why are you still hung up on Stephen? He’s not the saint you think he is. Sure, I’m not perfect. But is he any better? Why would you rather run back to him than even look at me?”

He looked almost wild now, frustration etched deep in his face. “I’m the one who loves you most!”

Rebecca nearly laughed. The way he compared himself to Stephen was pathetic. His awful declaration made her want to throw up. She didn’t even want to waste another word on him. Just the sight of him made her skin crawl.

She ducked her head, not hesitating for a second, and bit down hard on his arm.

Bruce grunted, but his hold didn’t loosen at all. His eyes sparkled with a sick kind of excitement. “Go ahead, bite me. The harder you bite, the stronger our bond gets.”

He was out of his mind.

Rebecca clenched her teeth, hatred burning in her chest. She lifted her knee, ready to attack, when suddenly a sharp chill hit her shoulder.

She whipped her head around in shock and saw a syringe buried in her skin. The cold liquid was already spreading through her veins.

Her body went slack, heavy and useless, and she started sliding toward the floor. Bruce caught her around the waist, holding her close. He closed his eyes for a moment, relief and twisted happiness flickering across his face.

“We’ll be together again soon, Rebecca. Just like before.”

He carried her to the car. As he settled her inside, his phone buzzed. Morris was calling.

“Bruce, the boat you asked for is all set. Nobody’s gonna bother you. But seriously, what are you even doing? Why take a boat when you could just fly?”

He rushed upstairs, grabbing whatever he could toss into a suitcase. Ten minutes later, he was heading out the door, passport jammed in his pocket, not even noticing he’d put his jacket on inside out.

“Mom, I’m heading abroad for a few days,” he called back.

Before she could reply, he was gone, practically tripping over his own feet.

Madison just sighed. “He’s a grown man and still acts like a kid, always running around. When will he ever settle down?”

Meanwhile, at the gate of the complex, Stephen sat in his car, looking sharp, anxiously waiting for Rebecca. His nerves were shot, and he kept taking deep breaths, trying to stay calm. Every few minutes, he’d check his reflection, making sure everything was perfect. After double-checking every detail, he finally realized the sky had gone dark.

He picked up his phone. The last message from Rebecca was still from an hour ago.
